Shining the spotlight on North East design...

The very first Tyne Design Week took place from 23rd- 27th June 2025, and it was everything we had hoped for and more. The week brought together creatives and design lovers from across the North East to celebrate the amazing creativity, innovation, and ideas happening in our region.

Tyne Design Week was delivered by Edge Innovation, in partnership with the North East Combined Authority, Northumbria University, and Newcastle University, alongside a wide range of collaborators who helped to create a dynamic, immersive programme reflecting the wealth of ingenuity and talent available in the region.

The week was filled with a huge range of events, including workshops that tackled complex challenges such as in-work poverty and the safety of women and girls on public transport, engaging and interactive networking events that brought people together, inspiring graduate showcases at colleges and universities across the region, open studio sessions that offered a look behind the scenes, and seminars that explored how design shapes every aspect of our lives, from architecture to user experience and beyond.

We want to thank every one of the creative thinkers, practitioners, businesses, educators, students, and communities who helped make the week so brilliant. Your passion and contributions not only shaped something truly memorable but also sparked new connections and exciting opportunities that will strengthen the role of design in driving innovation and improving lives across the region.
